Posting 12222 George S Turnbull Center School of Journalism and Communication University of Oregon The University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication seeks an outstanding Director and Professor to lead the school?s George S Turnbull Center The Director of the George S Turnbull Center, located at the University of Oregon?s Portland Center, will hold a key intellectual and leadership role in the School of Journalism and Communication and be a member of the School?s leadership team The director will hold the rank of Professor as either an untenured Professor of Practice or as a tenure-related Professor depending on experience, credentials, and scholarly or creative work plan The Director will be the chief administrator of the Turnbull Center and for all SOJC programs in Portland and will report to the SOJC Dean Responsibilities include administering all SOJC Portland-based professional outreach and public programs, administering Portland-based academic programs in collaboration with the graduate and undergraduate associate deans and the Portland program coordinators; supervising Turnbull Center faculty and staff; managing the SOJC?s Portland budget; coordinating Turnbull Center activities; seeking external funding for Turnbull Center programming; representing the SOJC in public and professional communities; developing strategy for marketing and branding the Turnbull Center and its programs; serving as the SOJC?s liaison to the University of Oregon Portland management team and related committees; serving as the Turnbull Center?s liaison to the Eugene campus; producing scholarly or creative work; and teaching and advising at the graduate and undergraduate level in Portland as appropriate The successful candidate will have an advanced degree, a record of leadership in higher education or the media professions, a creative and entrepreneurial vision for the future, and the ability to build and foster diverse communities Experience in development, building academic/professional partnerships, a strong record of scholarship and/or professional or creative activity, and university-level teaching or the equivalent will be highly valued We invite applications from qualified candidates who share our commitment to a diverse learning and work environment To ensure consideration, applications must be received by August 15, 2012 The position will remain open until filled Please send a letter of interest, CV and contact information for three references to (click to respond) A single PDF file of these documents is preferred but not required Finalist must successfully complete a criminal background check The University of Oregon is an AA/EO/ADA institution committed to cultural diversity.Listing originally posted at http
